Mantvydas Vilys

Krikragaa wood craftsman and creative mind.

Mantvydas was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1988.

In 1995-2007, he studied traditional Lithuanian blockflute (lumzdelis speciality) at Juozas Karosas Music School and Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire.

In 2010-2012, he studied tailoring at Klaipėda Sewing and Service Business School.

In 2010, Mantvydas opened his first creative workshop in Klaipėda.

In 2011-2014, he worked as the leader of youth folk ensemble Avilys at Priekulė Cultural Centre, where he implemented a number of various ethnocultural projects.

Mantvydas also has professional experience in different areas of folk arts and crafts: music (plays traditional dance music, makes and restores musical instruments), woodwork (makes wooden furniture, objects, theatre scenography, fire sculptures, etc). He has organised and coordinated international events, cultural projects, festivals and craft workshops.

Mantvydas is a co-founder of Krikragaa Craftsmen’s Guild (NGO).
